Hello!
I hope your weekend was well! I spent mine working on the blog and I’ll have some new things to share on here soon. I’m super grateful that you’re here and reading this!
January marks my fifth subscription box from Succulents Box out of my six-month subscription. I didn’t expect this month’s box to show up so soon, so it was a pleasant surprise! I am stoked about our new plants and I’ll introduce them all now.
December Top Fan Box
Shout-out to Stephen for being patient and helping me take these photos. He held up the backdrop for me and I’m using his chair that he built as a stand.
I went a little crazy this month and ordered five new plants. Thank you, ML, at Succulents Box for packing my order so securely! Not a single leaf fell off during the shipping process. I removed some leaves that were withered, but I’m amazed at how well the plants were packaged. Here is our succulent haul: Fenestraria Baby Toes, Moonstone Pachyphytum, Echeveria Lola, Senecio Cocoon Plant, and Echeveria Chroma.
It was a complete surprise to unbox our plants and see these larger plants! We ordered 2 inch plants but these were bigger than our previous hauls. I think we got lucky and received slightly older plants. I adore the plants whenever they’re smaller and younger, but I won’t say no to ones that are larger and more mature! They’re all absolutely gorgeous.
Fenestraria Baby Toes
To redeem ourselves, we ordered a second Baby Toes and we got an abundance of them! Let’s hope we do better than the previous time. I’ve learned a few things since having the last ones and I’m confident that these will have a longer life than the previous one. I can hardly wait to see these bloom soon!
My mother-in-law gave me this pot and it was the perfect size for the Baby Toes. I didn’t have any pots this big, so I’m glad she gave this one to us. This plant was root bound and I had to be extra careful when removing it from its original pot. Also, the soil was bone dry and the leaves were all wrinkly. I waited a few days before watering it and now it’s perking up.
Moonstone Pachyphytum
This plant has been on my want list from the get-go. The Moonstone has had a rough adjustment period and I removed a few leaves from it and now it’s looking better after being watered.
As it gets older and receives more sunlight, it’ll turn super pink, which I can’t wait to see!
Echeveria Lola
Another succulent that has been on my wishlist is the Echeveria Lola, and it’s going to bloom soon! This was one plant that I expected to be small like my past purchases, but I am pleasantly surprised by the size I ended up getting. Thanks, again!
There’s another bloom on the other side of the plant, so I’ll be watching this one closely! I’m not sure what to do after it blooms since the stalks will grow upward, but I’ll figure that out when the time comes.
Senecio Cocoon Plant
I’ve been curious about this plant; it is strange but I love it. The Senecio Cocoon Plant is fuzzy and soft to touch, and I received two of them!
I replanted this one because the smaller plant of the two needed to be rooted deeper so it wouldn’t keep leaning and grow at an odd angle.
Echeveria Chroma
The Echeveria Chroma was my last pick out of the bunch. It looked too pretty to resist.
I don’t know much about this one but I’m thrilled with how close the color of the plant is to the pot.
The plants we received were all healthy and gorgeous. They were all underneath the soil whenever I unboxed them, but I gently brushed them and they look perfect! I’m so thrilled with this order and I’d buy all of the different types of succulents if I had enough room in my apartment.
January 2021 Subscription Box
Now, here are the plants in the January box:
I wasn’t as excited about this box, just because these plants weren’t on my radar, but I’m happy with what I ended up getting once they arrived.
The Echeveria Agavoides Christmas‘ picture on the website does not do the plant justice when seeing it in person. It looks completely different. This plant was just as large as the ones I got in my Top Fan box! It’s a funny sight whenever you look at the Haworthia Reinwardtii, also known as African Pearls, because it looks tiny.
I look forward to seeing what the African Pearls will look like whenever it blooms in the springtime! I didn’t even know that it blooms, so that’ll be cool to see. Also, the pot is huge but the plant will grow into it.
I’m running out of room on the table that I have my collection set up so I may not order a Top Fan box to share whenever I get my final box. I’ll try to restrain myself and save up for something else that I want on the site. I may squeeze in an update of the earlier succulents we’ve gotten since they have grown, and some even have babies! I’m already curious about what next month’s box will offer, but I’ll enjoy the darlings that I have now!
What are you looking forward to this year?
