Finish the Sentences

By now, you probably have realized how nostalgic I am. I took some time to reflect before I finished these sentences. I have a bunch to say to 15-year-old me, but I’ll just share these five prompts for now. This age was such a funny time. I was a freshman in high school, and it’s also when I found Mason! It’s crazy to think back to a time that seems so different from how I’m living now. I would love to re-meet the girl I was at 15. I wonder if I would have taken advice from my 25-year-old self.

I think I would have.

Anyway, let’s get to the fun part!

  • Don’t be hard on yourself because…

… you are so, so young. Now is the time where you’re making an initiative to figure yourself out, which is something you’re going to do for the rest of your life. Pace yourself. You are going to learn tough lessons; think before you react and remain kind, no matter what.

  • The relationship you’re in…

… with yourself is one of the most important ones you’ll have. Set firm boundaries for yourself and don’t compromise them to please those who won’t appreciate or understand you. Boundaries are normal and okay. Know when to draw them and make sure you don’t cross them!

  • You will get through this because…

… high school will not be the best years of your life, by no means. These four years will fly by, but try to enjoy them all. You will thrive in college and experience so many moments that you will cherish. Keep living and taking each day one step at a time.

  • Don’t get caught up in thinking…

… that you aren’t capable of achieving your dreams or that you don’t matter. Don’t belittle your progression or accomplishments. You are only hindering your progress by placing restrictions on your capabilities. You will always matter to your loved ones and they will continuously support you. Find your community and cherish the people in it.

  • These experiences will help you learn…

… just how strong you really are once you come out on the other side of them. These young experiences are exhilarating, confusing, and challenging. They will test your power. Even so, embrace them all and don’t let the processes and outcomes consume you. Enjoy and reflect on these experiences to help you piece together the life you hope to have someday.

Nominees

Now that you’ve read some of what I have to say, this is the time where I should nominate five people. Since I took forever making this post, I won’t nominate anyone. Please join in the tag if you’d like; I would love to read your answers!

Here are the prompts:

  • Don’t be hard on yourself because…
  • The relationship you’re in…
  • You will get through this because…
  • Don’t get caught up in thinking…
  • These experiences will help you learn…

What advice would you give to your 15-year-old self?

A 28-year-old seeking to live a thousand lives. Blogging and writing about some things that I love, which include succulents, books and music, and what I've been up to while living in Nashville, TN.

Do you have anything to add?
