A Clarksville Visit and Another Hockey Game

I’m just a few weeks behind, but I’m getting caught up with everything. This weekend, we’re going to stay in a cabin in Pigeon Forge with Stephen’s parents, so that’ll be a fun trip! This post is about the weekend before Thanksgiving, which I decided to visit Alexis in Clarksville since it had been a few weeks since I’ve been there and seen her. Stephen spent the day in the apartment doing his own stuff, so it was a nice girls’ day.

We’ve been craving Blackhorse, so that’s where we went! I haven’t been there in about two years, the last being my English class tried to get together with our professor, but she stood us up and forgot about the event! It was a funny thing, but we all still had a lovely meal.

Alexis and I were conflicted between there or brunch at Strawberry Alley โ€” also a restaurant I need to have soon. It so good and just the cutest place!

Our friend Jennifer, her sister [Maggie], and their friend, Taylor joined us at Blackhorse as well.

Not pictured was everyone else’s flatbread order. I was the only one that ordered a salad. I didn’t want to have any leftovers to take with me, so I thought I’d be safe with a Greek salad and some sweet potato fries.

Well, I thought wrong because I ended up taking a little bit of both with me! It was a slightly rainy day, so we couldn’t get a quality picture together. Oh well, there will be plenty more adventures to do so! We browsed boutiques downtown, then Jennifer and her crew went back to her house.

Alexis was wanting to find a Thanksgiving outfit, so we headed to the mall. She ended up finding a cute pumpkin colored skirt and a white sweater that I loved at Francesca’s, and they were both a really good deal!

Since our previous visit to Opryland, Alexis said she’s never tried Cinnabon before. A store was located near Francesca’s, so I peer pressured her into getting a first ever Cinnabon cinnamon roll. It was absolutely fabulous and just the perfect little treat to have on a rainy day. She thought it was pretty rad too, so yay! How could you not like them?

We did decided to take a picture after we finished our cinnamon rolls. You can see the sweater that I wanted to order as well that I said I’d get eventually — and I did because my mother-in-law is sweet and sent the sweater to me!

Of course whenever Alexis and I hang out, that means that we have to get coffee, right? Plumb Line was closed by the time we left the mall, so we headed to Lasaters. I haven’t been here in years, but it’s a lot better than when I first went! It was a bit sweater than I remembered, but I take it in all forms.

Iced Caramel Macchiato.

What’s funny is that there was this having his first date with a girl that he met online, most likely. It was so fascinating to witness, but I take that it didn’t go very well because it ended within 30 minutes, awkward.

At first, he was sitting alone in a both with a huge [what looked like] school book just watching the door. Whenever Alexis and I got our drinks, we sat in the booth in front of the register. A girl walked in a few minutes later and went up to the counter. The guy was seated in the behind me, and he noticed her. They introduced themselves to one another, and he bought her a hot chocolate, [what a nice lad].

I heard small tidbits of conversation, and it was the standard first date type questions to get to know one another. Bummer it ended so soon, but they didn’t waste any time!

It was getting around dinner time and we were getting hungry, so Alexis decided to go to Nashville because Stephen suggested P.F. Chang’s, and we both would never say no to going there!

We got there around 8:00 PM and had a small wait for our table. This was one of the less than pleasant experiences that we’ve ever had here, mainly because of the waitress.

As an appetizer, we started off with the Mongolian Potstickers — and we should have ordered another one of them because they were delicious!

Stephen ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen that appeared to be new.

Alexis and I both ordered the Hokkien Street Noodles. Mine looks like it was just dumped on the plate, but it was still tasty. I’ve gotten this the past few times and either I can’t remember the taste, but they seemed sweeter this time around. I’ll eventually try to stray and try a new dish, so I’ll make it a goal next time!

When our waitress came back, she told us that she put all our items on separate tickets. Meaning, she printed out 4 individual tickets instead of asking what items went where. All in all, she messed up and charged my card and tried to correct the error, but left us confused with the final bill. She never came back to our table or explained our bill, and it was definitely not right because I had two additional small charges to my card.

Alexis and I were wondering what the heck was going on, but Stephen was getting sleepy at this point, so he grabbed the manager walking around to clear up the situation. The manager was super kind and told us that he’d leave the price as it is instead of charging my card for about the fourth time or so, which equaled out to us paying less than what we should’ve owed, so that’s some good news.

Hopefully that doesn’t happen again because it was just a tad bit frustrating. Alexis went home since it was getting late. As for Sunday, I don’t think we did much besides hang around the apartment.

On Monday, we made a last minute decision to go to the Preds game. On the way there, a guy was walking around a bunch of [what looked like] corgi pups and I just need them all! They’re so adorable.

The first period was almost over by the time we got to our seats, but the game was exciting enough as is. We played the St. Louis Blues, and we were so glad to go because it was an extremely close game. Plus, we saw our first hockey shootout! Man, sports are so stressful. I thought we were going to lose, but luck was on our side during that game.

What’s cool was I was on the jumbo screen for a few seconds. It freaked me out a little and I got nervous, but that’s the first time that I was ever on the screen! Stephen said he wanted it to capture me stuffing my face with popcorn or something equally embarrassing whenever it landed on me. Luckily, I was just looking at the screen. Funny thing was, Stephen wasn’t on the screen and it was mainly focused on me!

We left Wednesday afternoon to spend Thanksgiving with our families after Stephen got off work. I’ll end this post and continue some of the festivities in that one!

  • How do you feel about Cinnabon?
  • Have you ever been on a jumbo screen before during an event?
  • Tell me something exciting or spontaneous that you’ve done lately!
  • Any snow for you yet? There isn’t any here so far.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week!

  1. I totally wish I had a friend like Alexis I could have girly days with. Francesca’s is one of my fave stores ever & I LOVE Cinnabon– so glad she enjoyed her first one. I truly have never met someone who doesn’t like cinnamon rolls! & the photo you two got together is so cute, the new sweater looks lovely on you. ๐Ÿ˜Š

There are a few P.F. Chang locations around here but we’ve never been yet. Those Mongolian potstickers look awesome & so do your noodles. Sorry your waitress wasn’t the brightest lol glad the manager was able to fix everything all up though!

    1. Awh, do you just have to drag boyfriend to go with you or make it a solo trip for the girly stuff? And yeah, there’s not a person I can think of that doesn’t like them either. I tried some orange frosted ones from the can, and those are… strange.

It’s a pretty good restaurant! I haven’t tried a dish yet that I don’t like. And the bill situation definitely worked in our favor, so I can’t be too upset, haha.

      1. Lol I drag boyfriend with me because he is my driver. ๐Ÿ˜› I think I wouldn’t mind going solo if I wasn’t afraid behind the wheel. Orange frosted cinnamon rolls? That sounds strange! I don’t mind the regular canned ones though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Will definitely have to try it sometime!!

        1. I canโ€™t imagine the traffic in Vegas! Iโ€™m still getting adjusted to the Nashville traffic. I never knew they made the orange type until my brother-in-law said his mom bought them all the time!

          1. The traffic isn’t so bad, it’s the way people drive! They don’t even use blinkers & they love to cut people off. I asked boyfriend if he had ever heard of the orange ones & he hasn’t either! Interesting!

          2. Oh, goodness. Yeah, I wouldnโ€™t want to be in that type of traffic either! Iโ€™m glad the orange cinnamon roll things arenโ€™t as common as he thought they were! I was so confused about them, haha. Definitely not a favorite, but interesting no doubt!

Do you have anything to add?
