Happy Succulent Sunday, friends!
I have thought about posting on Sundays since it flows but I’ve failed to share a new post until now. So for future posts, I’ll share on the following Sunday I receive my latest succies.

Anyway, here’s another plant post to share with you all. I’ve had these for a week and a half now. Since the last post, I had to buy a grow light because the plants weren’t getting enough sunlight in the window they were originally placed in front of. After a few weeks of being under the light, the PVN has gotten more pink and I’m so thrilled by it changing colors. I haven’t noticed any of the others change colors yet, but I’ll keep staring at them until they do! Just kidding, kind of.
In this post, I’ll introduce five more succulents, making 15 total. Although, I’m afraid that the cloudy week at the end of October really did the Baby Toes in, so 14[?] now. Sadly, the original leaves died, but there may be new growth underneath the soil. *fingers crossed!* I’ll buy more of them soon because I’m determined to keep them alive and they were one of Stephen’s favorites.
I’m making Stephen cut me off at some point, otherwise I’ll keep buying more plants when I shouldn’t be. He hasn’t given me a limit just yet, so we’re still good! I have also made a spreadsheet of my collection to keep track of the type of plant, amount of sun, last watered/fertilized, and the bloom season. I feel super organized and proud of this basic spreadsheet, admittedly.
October Top Fan Box
For this Top Fan box, Stephen chose one plant and I chose two. His pick is the Corpuscularia Lehmannii Ice Plant and I wanted the Echeveria Afterglow and Graptoveria Debbie. I’m over the moon with my growing collection and new additions!
The Ice Plant and Afterglow shipped bare root and they were carefully wrapped in layers of bubble wrap. Thank you, Juan, who carefully put together my order!
The Ice Plant looks super interesting. The root system is wonderful! I need to do more research on this plant, but it seems super easy to take care of.
The Afterglow was folded up for shipping, so it took a few days for the leaves to spread out. I am pleasantly surprised at how large the plant is since I expected it to be only 2 inches. When it matures, it’s going to be a deep purple with vibrant pink tips!
I think I introduced it to sunlight too quickly because some of the larger, pinker leaves are dry and crispy. I had to remove some of them since they were withered. I have now moved this plant to a shadier spot, so hopefully that’ll cure the problem and the leaves won’t keep dying on me. The leaves in the middle look about the same and I’m viewing that as a good sign.
Debbie will be a lighter purple. I only had to pull off a couple of dying leaves. I’m looking forward to seeing the grow light do its magic and stress my lovelies out! In a good way, that is.
All three of these plants will bloom in the spring. Fingers crossed they’ll all be healthy and I’ll have some exciting blooms to share with you all whenever I update how the collection is doing!
November Subscription Box
This month’s subscription box is one that I’m probably the most excited about; I just fell in love with the plants as soon as I unboxed them!
Here are the plants in this month’s box:
The plants I received in my subscription box are the Senecio String of Bananas and Haworthia Obtusa Cymbiformis Variegated. What a mouthful!
The SoB definitely looks like miniature bananas, and they’re adorable! I got a really healthy one and it seems to be adjusting to its new environment well.
This is a hanging plant, so how long they get is up to them to determine! They will look lovely in front of a window but I hope they don’t grow too fast on me since I love the size they’re at now.
The Obtusa looks like little bows, so that’s nifty. This was the Haworthia that I secretly hoped I’d get. I’ve been eyeing another type of Haworthia that’s a little pricier; maybe I’ll get it in the future.
I didn’t expect to get another Obtusa in my box, but I was so excited to see it hidden underneath the soil! These two don’t have much of a root system, just a couple of roots attached to them. I’m hoping they’ll adjust to their new environment and develop a stronger system to pull through. I used more of the fluffier soil because I figured new roots would cling to it and grow better than if they were in the orchid mix.
I just have three more boxes left in my subscription, but I’m looking forward to seeing what next month’s box will be!
Succulents Box offers an excellent variety of succulents and wonderful customer service. This subscription box is like receiving Christmas presents each month!
As of today, all of the plants are doing well. My orchids haven’t bloomed yet, but new branches keep growing! It seems like they’ve been budding forever. This is a test of patience since it’s been a few weeks of watching and waiting for them to finally bloom. It’ll be worth seeing once they do!
It’s been a nice weekend for us. It’s going to rain today, so it’s a more relaxed catch-up day for me. I’ve been a bit behind on other things I’ve been wanting to do.
How is your weekend going?
How exactly does the Top Fan box work? You just have to engage in their social?
I love the ones you guys picked too, especially the Ice Plants and the Afterglow. They looks absolutely stunning!
I also love the string of bananas one! It looks so pretty and I cannot wait to see how it will look once it has grown out! I really want one of those too, I love those plants so much I even drew some last year I think for my bujo π
Do you have Facebook? If so, there’s a badge that shows whether you are a Top Fan or not. Mainly you interact with their Facebook page by liking and/or commenting on their posts and the badge shows up. I can shoot you a message if you’re unfamiliar with it and the post they have pinned mentioning it. You end up getting a code from them you can use to get some free plants! When I first got my badge, I didn’t comment much, just mainly liked their stuff and stalked their page, and I got the badge. Now I comment sometimes to keep it up since it will disappear with less engagement.
I think they had Afterglows at Home Depot but the ones I saw were in terrible condition. π String of anything seems to be tricky for some people, but the bananas have been relatively easy to take care of! They’re so fun, and I hope you get some of your own one day!
Ohh okay, I think I was top fan for another page for a while LOL but that’s cool
I think Facebook just pays attention to the pages its users click on constantly and deem them a top fan of that page. I think that’s how I became a top fan for SB, haha. I would always check their page. It’s exciting each month and it gives me a reason to buy more plants!
