The Sniffly Season

Hello, hello!

It was super duper cold a few nights ago and Stephen tells me how much he hates my heated blanket, but he was also using it, so HA. I take all and any opportunity to use the heated blanket, haha. I’m actually using it right now and keeping the thermostat a bit lower. Usually, he just pushes it to my side of the bed so I have double the warmth, so I’m super cozy.

Picking back up from last week, Stephen was in the midst of his cold and took a day off from work, but now he’s about 100% — what a relief! On Wednesday night, we decided to treat ourselves to Lemongrass Sushi & Thai since it had been a bit a few months since we’ve had it, plus Stephen wanted some pho to soothe his throat after coughing so much!

Pork Pho.

Plus, it’s about one of the very few soup meals he’ll eat. It just looks so yummy! This pho-to [haha] was taken of our previous visit from months ago that I didn’t have the chance to post about.

This time around, I ordered the spring rolls and the Pad Woon Sen. The description is not very clear on what noodles you’ll get because the description reads as Pad Woon Sen (Stir Fried Glass Noodles), which is the assumption, but the description of it reads, “Stir fried wide rice noodles with egg, broccoli, and carrots with your choice of meat.”

That may need some editing done on their part, but I’m so happy to see that they were indeed glass noodles! I love the thinner noodles a lot better because I’m that weirdo that doesn’t chew noodles, so much more convenient for me!

I wanted them to kick up the spice level so they gave me additional spices to put in, and definitely one of my favorite dishes so far! I absolutely love fried tofu, so it definitely hit the spot on this chilly day.

Nothing much went on until Friday night. I planned on taking the trash out and go for some iced coffee from Dunkin’ because I was really craving it, and that’s when I noticed that my car wouldn’t start. The lights on the dash kept flickering, and you know the drill. It also wouldn’t lock when I pressed the lock button on the handle the first few times, but it eventually did. I would’ve been so much more worried if my car wouldn’t lock over night.

What was strange was that I could open the back of my car to put the trash in the trunk, but when I tried to start it and whatnot then remove the trash, the trunk wouldn’t open! I ended up just having to get the trash out from lowering the seats in the back on my car.

So, instead of my solo adventure to get coffee that’s about .4 miles away or around that, Stephen took me. We dumped off the trash on our way to Dunkin’, and he needed to get gas anyways, so that worked out!

Saturday Trip to the Mall

On Saturday morning, I woke up around 8:00 AM -—early for me! — to help Stephen jump off my car. Luckily, he managed to get my car to resurrect. Since Alexis came down to visit, we didn’t take it to AutoZone, but we probably should this weekend.

While Stephen was trying to get my car to start, I wanted to take a pretty picture of this yellow leaf with a bit of frost on it, haha.

Nature’s just gorgeous like that, yeah?

Stephen decided to stay home and recover [and play more video games], so Alexis and I had a small girl’s day. We were really wanting to go to Opry Mills because Fossil had so many sales going on that weekend! In the end, we didn’t buy anything, but I’ve definitely been stalking the website a few times to catch any price drops! Plus, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so it makes complete sense. I’m debating on selling one of my older bags just because I really don’t use it, but I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.

Before we went to the store, we decided to have lunch at TGI Fridays. I haven’t been in months, so I was curious about new menu items.

We ordered the Street Noodles. Props to the presentation and the overload of yummy shrimp we got with the meal, but there were a few complaints I had for this dish.

TGI Fridays, the Street Noodles.

Complaints: Loved the neat-o presentation, but didn’t particularly care for the fortune cooking being on top of the noodles. Where has that fortune cookie been and what has it touched!? That’s the germaphobe in me. Also since it was a hot plate, the noodles at the bottom were burnt and they kept sticking to the plate!

The biggest complaint was how salty the sauce was. It had a wonderful soy flavor, but man. I don’t drink a lot during meals, [I know, you’re supposed to,] and I had a water bottle with me, but I was drinking a lot more water than usual. Plus whenever we were in the Fossil store, I started to have a coughing fit and my throat felt so dry. I hate coughing in quiet public spaces as is, but the tickle in my throat just wouldn’t go away!

Overall, they had a great taste, and they had sugar snap peas, but so much salt!

When Alexis and I finally headed back to the apartment, also making a stop at Dunkin’ once again, it was around 4:50 or a bit later. We wanted a picture together since we’ve failed both times that we’ve wanted to because we keep forgetting. We decided to go to this little park area to catch the remaining daylight, but we still looked dark in the pictures.

So instead of us, here is this final leaf that I took.

It’s so pretty! I even posted on the fun Instagram of it, haha.

In order to fix the problem of us never having pictures together when we’re out by ourselves, I purchased a tripod and it got here yesterday, so we’ll see how that turns out and I’ll get back to you on it.

Alexis and I decided to start The Haunting of Hill House. We binged watched about 5 episodes before she had to head back to Clarksville. Stephen was not a part of this binge watching session and went upstairs to read. [He’s afraid to watch scary/horror stuff.]

Really, it’s not scary, and I keep telling him how he’s perfectly fine with the zombies and mutated creatures in his video games with jump scares and whatnot! Hill House really isn’t scary, so I think he’d be able to handle it. He says it’s ghosts and paranormal stuff that freak him out. So, I’m watching all the scary stuff alone.

Currently, I lack two more episodes, and then I’ll be finished! I really like the plot and I think the scene transitions and storyline are done so well. Although, I did find the arguments and some monologues to drone on longer than they should and be more annoying, but I’ve watched Gilmore Girls, so I’m used to it I guess. I like Gilmore Girls, truly, but I really never noticed how they talk so much and it’s always in some circle of saying the same thing!

Wednes-Yay!

Since I’m posting this today, we are halfway through the week! I’ve still got a slight cold and cough, but I’m not sick. Maybe I’m in denial, but I refuse! Haha. I tell Stephen it’s because I’m too stubborn to get sick. Since we’ve been together, I haven’t really gotten sick around him, so we’ll see how he takes care of me when that happens!

We’re a bit on a roll this week with making new recipes. Two were Home Chef Meals and I have some recipes backlogged that I’m trying to space apart to share with you all. Tonight’s dish I’m going to make will be the 20 Minute Spicy Thai Noodles if the meat is thawed out to use. I haven’t made it in forever and it’s so good, especially as cold leftovers!

Since Halloween has passed us, are you the type of person that is already celebrating Christmas?

Also, do you prefer a sunrise or sunset?

I am definitely not a festive person, but I’ll slowly try to be. I’ve just never been a fan of Christmas music or movies. Honestly, we didn’t even have a Christmas tree last year, but Stephen’s not big on Christmas stuff either, so I feel less bad about that. Haley says she may have one we can borrow. I just look forward to the different atmosphere and family gathering. That’s really the best part about it.

I can never wake up early for a sunrise. I love sunsets because of their beautiful colors and how they just paint the whole sky!

Have a wonderful rest of the week, friends!

  1. Oh my gosh, I need a heated blanket. I just use a huge duvet & boyfriend hates it, too, lol. He uses a thin sheet & says mine is too hot but, I still get cold sometimes. 😭

I’ve never tried pork pho but that looks tasty! Pad Woon Sen is boyfriend’s fave Thai noodle dish, too! Glad you got the noodles you wanted!

I was going to say the same thing about that fortune cookie at TGI lol. Why would they do that?! & I noticed a lot of American restaurants that make Asian food always make it too salty &/or too soy saucey. & hey, I actually heard it’s better not to drink anything cold while you’re eating!

How fun that you got a tripod! Hope you love it & eventually got a picture with Alexis. 😊 I am also scared of ghosts & paranormal stuff like Stephen. I can watch scary movies/shows but they will haunt me for WEEKS. I totally don’t blame him for not wanting to torture himself lol. I still need to see Hill House sometime though– can’t believe you are so brave to watch it alone!

Lol! They really do talk so much in Gilmore Girls. Especially Lorelai. 😂 Glad you like the show overall though!

We never decorate for any holidays but man, I LOVE how the city does. The lights are absolutely amazing everywhere & they fill me with so much joy! Christmas music & movies are my favorite!! Lol. 🎄 Also, I prefer a sunset, too!

    1. Ahh, well I hope you treat yourself to a heated blanket because I’m obsessed with mine! Haha, I really don’t know what I would do without it sometimes.

As for the fortune cookie, I still have no earthly idea or reason why they would put it on the food, goodness. And I haven’t heard that before about not drinking anything cold, but maybe I’m doing things right after all!

Oh man, that’s so crazy how the scary stuff seems to stick with you weeks later! Stephen actually said that he may give Hill House a shot whenever the new one is out! It’s really not what I expected, but it’s so neat how the story plays out! I heard that season 2 is based off of Henry James’ book, The Turn of the Screw, so I’m excited about that!

I can handle the scary stuff, but when it comes to like medical and torture stuff, it makes me uneasy. I can watch those movies, but they make me squirm or I have to look away. I think one movie like that was called, Would You Rather that I had a difficult time watching because the dares that each character had to do to survive.

My family strongly encouraged us to put up a tree, so we borrowed a mini tree and my mom bought ornaments for us to decorate, so we’re doing better! The city is GORGEOUS with all the lights. I’ll watch at least two Christmas movies this season to be more in the festive spirit, haha. I hope you are blaring lots of Christmas music and are watching some movies to kick off the month! I can’t believe how close Christmas is approaching! ♡

      1. Def going to look into a heated blanket lol. I sweat easily though so we’ll see how I like it! Lol, still peeved about the fortune cookie, too. Very unsanitary! & a fellow blogger told me about the cold drinks while eating & I actually looked it up & found it to be true! It says it can slow down digestion & cause cramping.

Oh that’s really exciting that the new season of Hill House will be based on a different novel. How fun & interesting. Maybe if Stephen is brave enough to watch it, I can, too LOL.

The torture & medical stuff makes me a bit uneasy, too, but I can’t look away from it. It never really sticks with me, either. I wanted to watch Would You Rather! Have you ever The Saw movies?

That’s so sweet that you guys have a mini tree up. <3 I am listening to Christmas music in the car & am on my second Christmas novel lol. Still need to watch a movie, though!! Hope you are doing all of the festive activities, too. <3

        1. At least a heated blanket has various temperature levels, so that may help! I’m curious about weighted blankets since people went crazy over those a few years ago. Oh, I think I heard that about not putting ice cubes in a dog’s water because it can cause that!

I have faith in ya to be able to watch it! Haha. Weirdly enough on how much I love scary movies, I haven’t ever gotten around to watching The Saw movies, but I’ve wanted to! I’ll probably have to watch them on my own. Have you watched them?

Hm, I think I could handle a Christmas book. I may be able to take that better than watching a Christmas movie right off the bat! Haha, thank you! I’m glad to read that you’re enjoying them as well!

          1. Ooo, that’s nice that you can adjust the heat on the blankets. Is there like a cord that connects to the wall? I’ve honestly never seen one before! I’m gonna look up weighted blankies, too.

Oh no! Sometimes I give my cats an ice cube or two in their water, I bet that’s not very good on their digestive system either then. Oops! I won’t do it anymore lol.

Yes, I love the Saw movies but, they are all about torture, blood, & gore. No paranormal stuff.

Ahh, I don’t know. I feel like movies might be quicker to get through than books, they are all just as cheesy lol.

          2. Yeah, there is a cord that you plug into the wall! Mine is a few years old and it has a little control box. I think my settings are 1-10, so there’s definitely room to adjust to what temperature you want to set it! I used to put lots of ice cubes in Mason’s water dish until I read that but I do give him a piece by hand since he loves it.

I’ll give the Saw movies a shot to see how much I can take, haha. You’re probably right about Christmas movies being quicker overall; maybe there will be some books I can read on my Kindle since I haven’t been reading as much!

          3. Oh that’s so crazy that it plugs into the wall & has a control box. I like to wrap my blankies into a ball around me lol.

Our cats get really excited about the ice cubes, we do it more in the hot summer but, we won’t anymore. Thanks for letting me know!

Lol okay, I’m so sorry if you watch the Saw movies & don’t like them. They are VERY gorey. You’ll have to let me know if you find any Christmas books that you enjoy. 🙂

          4. It’s a long cord too, so I think you would be able to still do that! I’m will you and I loved to be balled up in the blanket!

You’re welcome! I’ve learned to cut back on giving a piece to Mason since he runs up to the fridge whenever we get ice for our glass! It’s too cute not to sometimes.

I’ll update how I liked the movies and books whenever I do! No worries, I am prepared for what to expect of them! 😝

          5. Interesting to know lol! Thanks for all the info, I’ll have to look more into it & see if a heated blanket would work for me. 🙂

I’m sure it’s okay to give them a liiiittle bit of ice once in awhile! LOL okay as long as you go in knowing what to expect, they may be easier to enjoy. 🙂 Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Do you have anything to add?
