July and Flying By.

First off, how is it already July?! The first half of 2019 has been filled with so many lessons. Navigating married life is pretty challenging, but super fun. We’re trying to juggle a new city, transition with jobs, and continuously expand our comfort zones! Actually, funny thing, we were practicing how to juggle last night! My hand-eye coordination definitely needs some work.

About two weekends ago, we bought a Cheekwood membership. I didn’t take many pictures, but I think I’m going back this weekend since Stephen’s parents will be in town. I’ll insert more pictures then! The outside exhibit right now is based on Where the Wild Things Are.

Outdoor exhibit.
Charlotte’s Web style kids playing area.

I told Stephen to gaze off somewhere intensely, so this is what I get! He’s such a goof.

Since heat and I don’t get along at all, I was more than relieved to go inside the air conditioned mansion with lots of cool air. It was a beautiful day, but so, so hottt! By the time we went into the Cheek mansion, I was unflatteringly gross after the heat.

The mansion had a children’s book exhibit with some childhood favorites. This cute little room had a quiet, but fun atmosphere to grab a book from the table and read. The bean bag chair was quite comfortable, so it was tempting!

For this past weekend to end the month, we went to the Frist Art Museum and explored downtown a little bit. I didn’t take any pictures of the art work because I wasn’t sure if it was allowed. It probably was allowed, but I was afraid of getting scolded on the off chance! The exhibits were so beautiful. I really liked the Diana Al-Hadid exhibit. I was so fascinated by her work! I don’t know how she created the sculpture pictured, but it intrigued me so much.

I may understand symbolism in literature, but art? I am clueless most of the time. Don’t get me wrong, I love and admire art, but I’ll admit to not understanding it part of the time. I was always super envious of people who could draw. I’d have a good idea or image of a poem I’d write, but when I’d try to draw it, it was absolutely terrible!

My best and current model of my projects, Alexis, is an art minor and a graphic design major. Her work is incredible, and perhaps we may collaborate in the future when we set aside some free time! Her art Instagram is slowly in the works, and I keep telling her to upload some more of her previous projects! So, I’ll be waiting for more things from her.

Just so you know, if anyone needs a graphic designer for a logo, book, or any type of drawing done, I can hook you up!

Stephen was my photographer for stuff I’ve got in the works– he needs to sharpen his eyes a bit for the photos, so we’re learning! I’m still awkward, but I’m going for it! Haha. I decided to get some Starbucks to cool off a bit, and we haven’t bought any in awhile! We always make a day to go to Smoothie King at least once a week, so yummy!

As of Now

Currently as I’m typing this post, I’m watching You’ll Always Be My Maybe. I’m usually the last to do, buy, or watch anything. Even though it’s been out for a bit, I haven’t gotten around to watching any movies in general. Aside from Harry Potter– Stephen and I are watching one every few nights because he haven’t really watched them. He used to dish on them, but I had to show him the beautiful literary aspect of the series!

Anyways, I’m about 40 minutes in, and so far, it’s pretty cute. I’m betting that it’s predictable on how it ends, but I’m curious to see how the story plays out. Maybe I’m wrong! Like all romance movies, I’m a sucker to watch them, and so, here I am.

Stephen just showed up. He went to get his hair cut. Like any movie, he’s the type of person that looks on Rotten Tomatoes to see what movies are rated before he watches any. Wellll, it backfired on him because it’s rated like 91%! Funny thing is, he even started tearing up in one scene!

He doesn’t like these cheesy romance movies, but he’ll watch them with me sometimes!

I’ll wrap it up now. It’s a busy week already of stuff that I’ve gotta do. I hope you all will enjoy the celebrations to follow this weekend!

  1. Cheekwood looks so cool & you got some awesome photos!! I didn’t know you had your septum pierced! It looks so cute on you & makes me miss mine. πŸ™ I am so bad at drawing, too, and have always been envious of those who are good at it!! I keep hearing great things about Always Be My Maybe, even my teenage brother told me it’s cute, lol. I have to watch it!

    1. Thank you!! It’s so beautiful there, but this humidity– ugh! I took the leap to get it pierced a few years ago! My family wasn’t happy about it, but I love it! You should definitely watch at some point when you have time! It’s a sweet, feel good movie! Just the kind that I like, haha.

      1. Ahhh, I know what you mean about the humidity. Minnesota was the same way! I love your septum ring & I totally probably have said something about yours before. I’m so sorry lol I have the worst memory. πŸ™

Will def check out that movie soon!!

        1. I could possibly like the heat slightly more tolerable if it weren’t for humidity! I’ve never been to Minnesota, but definitely wanna someday! No worries, we’ve all slept and eaten since then, haha. Thank you so much!! πŸ™‚

          1. Vegas has no humidity but the heat is killer! I do think it’s a bit more tolerable though. That’d be cool if you visited MN someday, it’s not a bad place!

Do you have anything to add?
