Happy Thursday! I’m a little behind. Evening plans changed, then I got lazy whenever we had dinner, but it’s still Thursday for me to share this post!
We’ll be visiting relatives this weekend. On Sunday we’re celebrating my nephew’s first birthday party! Today is his birthday, which is so crazy that a year has gone by already. I remember the family had a huge group chat and my brother was giving us updates of this unforgettable moment.
Anyway, let’s get into it. For my second Thursday Things post I’m sharing some delicious Bare Apple Chips, Too Faced Good to Go Moisturizer, and the Headquarters Slick Defender set.
Granny Smith Apple Chips — Bare
I was so excited to see these at Kroger. I can’t remember the brand, but whenever I was younger my mom would always buy apple chips for me during her Walmart grocery trips. They were golden apples and so yummy! At the time, a bag of apples chips was like a dollar or two, or so I thought. I loved the cinnamon ones especially.
Kroger was selling 2 bags for $7, I think, which is still a little pricey, but I splurged on them. Originally they’re like $4.29, which I wouldn’t buy unless they were on sale. There were way more chips in the bag than I thought I would get. I also bought some Coconut Chips, but I haven’t tried those yet. I’ll take those with me on the road and devour them.
I really love Granny Smith apples and these chips are delicious! So addicting. I like that there is a little sourness to them.
Although, after eating an entire bag, I think they upset my stomach and I was *TMI?* a bit gassy. On the days I ate them, I woke up in the middle of the night and my stomach felt bloated and achy. What a bummer since they’re so good. I may eat these on occasion whenever I’m craving them and I’ll suffer through it. My stomach hasn’t felt like that since I finished the bag last week.
Hangover Good to Go Moisturizer —Too Faced
This was another item that I received in my summer FabFitFun box, and it was perfect for these humid, sunny days! I have another moisturizer I use, but I’ll use this one whenever I know I’ll be out in the sun for a long period of time.
On Too Faced’s website, this stuff is normally $35, but sometimes on Ulta’s website, like right now, the sale price is $17.50! The smell is wonderful and I only need to apply a small amount of my face whenever I’m getting ready and I am, literally, good to go.
I applied some of the moisturizer on my face whenever we went to the races a few weeks ago. I was out in the sun from 11:00 AM until sundown and my face didn’t get sunburned. I wore a ball cap too, but the sun was facing us to our right. I didn’t even need to apply any more on my face during the day.
Not saying that I am recommending this as a substitute for sunscreen, but it worked for me and I’ll be using it whenever I’m just out and about outside. Since I don’t wear foundation, I can’t give my opinion on how this stuff does with it, but it seems to be positive and okay with makeup, according to the bottle.
Located on Ulta’s description, here are the benefits:
- Moisturizes and deeply nourishes skin
- Gives skin a luminous glow
- Creates a soft, smooth canvas perfect for makeup
- Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection helps prevent dark spots and discoloration from forming
- Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection helps prevent the sun’s rays from breaking down natural collagen
- Absorbs quickly into skin
- No white residue, suitable for all skin tones
- Can be used all over face
- Smells like coconut water
- Cruelty free
My skin feels so soft after applying the moisturizer on my face, and I’m so glad I got to try this product out because it’s one that I wouldn’t have thought about purchasing. I’ll definitely buy more whenever I run out, whenever that will be.
Slick Defender — Headquarters
I saw Headquarters advertised on Instagram. They’re a small company that creates products so others have healthier hair. Also, they donate a portion of their profits to mental health initiatives and programs.
I’ve been trying to train my hair to get to the point where I only have to wash it once a week, but I’m not there just yet. I absolutely hate how oily and gross my hair feels after a few days. As of now, I wash it every four days. I can’t make it to six days just yet.
A friend of mine went all summer without washing her hair to train hers and it paid off because she doesn’t have to wash her hair as often. It would be amazing to get my hair to the point where I can do the same, though I don’t think I could not wash mine for a whole summer. Major props to her!
My hair is kind of in between because it alternates between being dry and oily. I took the hair quiz on Headquarter’s website and it recommended for me to try out the Slick Defender. There’s another set I might try that balances hair. I really like the light herbal smell of these products.
Exfoliating Scrub
The Exfoliating Scrub is the first step and it’s used to remove the buildup on the scalp. I had this set for a few weeks before using it. I’m not sure what an exfoliating scrub is supposed to feel like, but mine was grainy and dry. I’ve only used this a few times, usually about once every three weeks. Just from using it a few times already, my scalp feels much softer and it looks cleaner.
Ingredients listed on their website:
Cleansing Shampoo & Hydrating Conditioner
I also bought my sister the same set because she’s been been looking for quality hair products. She used her set before I did and said that she had to use a lot of the shampoo for it to get sudsy. Whenever I used it the first time, I felt the same and my hair still felt dirty after washing it.
As of now, I think I use the equivalence of one and a half pumps of my Herbal Essence shampoo, which is what I’ve been using forever and I don’t use that much of, then I’ll rub the shampoo in my palms, then hair to get suds to form. Sometimes I do have to use more to get shampoo on my ends — my hair is quite long — but I still have a lot left in the bottle.
Ingredients listed on their website:
Nourishing Mist
I sometimes forget to use this product since you spray it on after you shower. I spray my hair three times with the Nourishing Mist, then comb my fingers through my hair. I wasn’t sure what the benefit of using this mist was, but I’ve realized it’s somewhat like a dry shampoo. Once my hair dries, it feels a lot softer and appears less oily.

Besides ordering directly from their website, you can also find Headquarters’ products at Walmart, though I’m not sure if they’re available at all of them. I hardly go to the Walmart near me, so I’m not for sure, but hopefully it’ll be in stock in more Walmarts because I really like the products overall, and the set is super affordable!
Overall Thoughts
Product | Price | Purchase again? |
Granny Smith Apple Chips — Bare | ~$3.50 | Yes, but on occasion |
Hangover Good to Go Moisturizer —Too Faced | $35 | Yes, a little goes a long way! |
Slick Defender — Headquarters | $24-$30 | On the fence since I’m not sure if this is the set I need. They’re affordable. My hair feels a lot healthier and I will try other products from Headquarters |
What are you loving right now?
