How My October 2024 Went

Life is really messing up my blogging time, but this is me playing catch up.

Let’s pretend I posted this November 1st, not in the middle of March of 2025.

Daily Life

October 5: Pups & Pints biannual event! This was the fall event, and it was hot.

I had Stephen run into the coffee shop and get me an iced caramel latte. It was sweeter than I remembered it being, but it tasted better!

October 11: Pho Ann moved from Belle Meade to Bellevue, and we’re excited about that!

I had to get a green milk tea. We both split a pork banh miso yummy! Stephen ordered beef pho and I tried beef crispy pan-fried noodles. I usually get the dish with vermicelli noodles with pork, but I thought I’d try something new!

October 18: Haley and Reece came to visit us for the weekend! We hit up HomeGoods since the closest one is in Johnson City. We can always find something to buy here.

For dinner, we ate at Thai Samurai. Stephen ordered one of the seared rolls, and it was a bit spicy for him, but I liked it!

October 19: I woke up early on Saturday to get them cinnamon rolls from a woman who makes bread and other treats that is typically at the farmers’ market.

Haley and Reece booked a hotel, so they came to our apartment and we had breakfast at our place. We stopped at Publix to pick up coffee and some breakfast things.

I ordered The Well’s seasonal drink again. As usual, 10/10.

Afterward, we went to the Parthenon. They didn’t go inside the last time they visited, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to see what’s new inside!

It was a gorgeous day!

October 24: We early voted! I had some books to pick up from the library, and we only had to wait like less than 10 minutes in line to vote!

(The outcome still stings burns.)

Books

I can’t believe how little I’ve been reading, but that’s okay! I’m halfway through my reading goal, and that’s good enough with how busy I’ve been.

You can check out my Goodreads to see what I read if you’re interested. I’m too behind and still playing catch up with adding bare-minimum book reviews at the moment.

TV Shows/Movies

Inside Out (2015)

In the mind of a young girl named Riley Andersen are a series of personified basic emotions that influence her actions: JoySadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger. Riley’s experiences become memories that are stored as colored orbs and are sent into long-term memory each night. The aspects of the five most important “core memories” within her personality take the form of five floating islands. Joy acts as the leader, and tries to limit Sadness’s influence, perceiving her as an unnecessary burden for Riley.

We finally decided to watch this movie, and I think Stephen and I enjoyed it more than we thought we would.

I had no idea this movie came out that long ago. Almost nine years, really!?

It was clever and I thought it depicted human emotions well.

My parents never uprooted my life and forced me to move, so it’s hard to imagine myself practically running away. I don’t think I would, but I was a pretty dramatic kid.

The danger/dimension zone was funny and I will continue to think about it.

Inside Out 2 (2024)

Two years after her move to San Francisco,[c] 13-year-old Riley Andersen is entering high school. Her personified emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger—now oversee a newly formed element of Riley’s mind called her “Sense of Self“, which houses memories and feelings that shape Riley’s beliefs. Joy, aiming to fill the Sense of Self with only positive memories, has created a mechanism that launches negative memories to the back of Riley’s mind.

Riley and her best friends, Bree and Grace, are invited to a weekend ice hockey camp, where Riley hopes to qualify for her new school’s team, the Firehawks. However, a “Puberty Alarm” goes off the night before camp, and a group of mind workers upgrade the emotion console, leaving Headquarters in disarray. The emotions find that Riley now overreacts to any inputs they make to the console. Four new emotions—Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui—arrive and clash with the original emotions over their approaches.

Man, being 13 is rough. I don’t remember that much because it’s been 16 years since I was 13! Oh my. 😵‍💫

Anxiety was spot on, and the room with all the what-if situations is too relatable. I loved it.

The scenes with Bloofy, Pouchy, and Lance were gold.

The comment Joy makes about how maybe there is less joy whenever we get older is such a real and sad thing that we let happen without realizing it sometimes.

That’s something to think about more and discuss.

I am looking forward to Inside Out 3 in about 4 years to see how Riley’s story will wrap up.

It’s hard to say which one I liked more since they both had really strong points and elements.

Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021)

Set in Worcester, Massachusetts, the show explores the life of Allison McRoberts, a woman struggling to redefine her life amid an unhappy marriage to her husband Kevin, a narcissistic man-child whose cruel treatment of her borders on domestic abuse.[citation needed] The show presents contrasting perspectives of her experience – a typical sitcom wife when Allison is with her husband Kevin, shown with a multiple-camera setup and canned laughter, and as a woman navigating a difficult personal path, filmed in the single-camera setup more common to television dramas.[3]

I’d been curious about this show, and it was not what I expected (in a good way!).

It’s a dark comedy and (content warning) focuses on an abusive relationship.

Music

Patterns (2024)— Kelsea Ballerini

I’m just going to reuse the image whenever “Sorry Mom” came out.

First off, I can’t believe the dislike of this album on a subreddit. I am loving it. I thought Subject to Change was good, but I didn’t feel as connected to it as this album.

I’ve had it on repeat since its release. “We Broke Up” is so catchy and fun to sing.

At the time of writing this, since the album was new, there are no skips for me right now. I will happily jam to all of the songs until further notice.

“This Time Last Year” is so a lovely song to end the album (even though the outro is the actual final song). I love the growth and outlook, as well as the sound and lyrics.

Orders

So, to continue with my orders from last month, I needed an hourly planner so I can properly write in my pet sittings for next year as I hopefully get busier!

Alexis helped me pick a color palette for my pet service package, and it was such a fated moment to see that this planner cover design has the colors similar to what I used! Of course, I had to go with it!

I spent hours debating what planner would be the best one for me, and I love that this company lets you customize the planner to fit your lifestyle!

I placed my first order on September 14th, but it was lost during shipping! That was such a bummer. However, support was wonderful! They reprinted my planner, had it shipped within 2 days, and all is right and well again!

My second order actually arrived September 30th, but I’ll keep the Plum Paper orders in this month’s post. I ordered a sticker book, planner folio cover, and customized notepad!

My third and final order (for now) contains customized stickers and a pen pouch! I am so stoked and cannot wait to use it next year!

If interested in ordering a planner from the website, tell me your email and I can send you a discount referral coupon! 🙂

I may do a product review because I’m just super excited about it and can’t wait to use it.

October 3: I have been neglecting my succulents since I’ve been busy, but I couldn’t resist getting an Echeveria Cream Sun and Echeveria Blossoming Special!

I had been regretting not getting the Cream Sun; I can’t resist a succie with thick farina!

*Editing this post in March 2025, and I’m sad to say that the Blossoming Special didn’t make it. 🙁

That’s all for October, time to dive into November!

A 29-year-old seeking to live a thousand lives. Blogging and writing about some things that I love, which include succulents, books and music, and what I've been up to while living in Nashville, TN.
