New City, [New Me?]

I’m blogging on a Saturday, how odd of me; but it’s just until I get back into the swing of things for next week. We just got Wi-Fi installed on Wednesday, so I’m only slightly behind. I’ve missed blogging and reading other bloggers’ posts. In the sad midst of this crazy moving transition [again], I put my blogging on the back burner.

Now, it’s time to adjust another new schedule now that we finally have our own place! We are officially Nashville residents! It’s so refreshing and nice to have a space completely ours. Stephen starts his new job on Monday! Super exciting for sure.

This past Wednesday marks 5 months of marriage and a vast amount of changes. First off, we moved from our apartment in Bristol, Virginia to moving away to Clarksville and staying with my friend for a month within four of those months. The last chapter entailed a new job for Stephen, a new city for us, and lots of personal challenges from the initial moving process and our relationship. But hey, we are finally in a city that will help us grow and shape us even more.

For Stephen, Bristol was an all too familiar comfort zone for him. I stopped growing in my hometown, something that my family is still slightly bitter about and doesn’t seem to understand that some people just aren’t meant to stay in them for long. We’re only in our 20s, we’ve got plenty of time to go back if we ever want, [but I really do not want to go back].

I admit to not looking for a job as much as I probably should be, but that’s because I’m on a freelancing site that I’m making well enough for now to keep us by. Plus, I honestly do think that freelancing is something for me. Of course, I will keep looking for a job, but I just don’t see my life going in that direction, ultimately.

Since I’m closer to my artistic best friend, we can actually work on my poetry book; so I’m even more stoked about that! It’s definitely a work in progress and it’s funny to revisit those states then and compare it to now. Everything has changed and it is a wonderful feeling.

I’m so ready to embrace this change and experience. It’s what I wanted to do years ago, but I never knew how I was going to get here. Here’s to a more exciting future filled with discovery and compassion.

Have a lovely weekend!

A 28-year-old seeking to live a thousand lives. Blogging and writing about some things that I love, which include succulents, books and music, and what I've been up to while living in Nashville, TN.

  1. Hope Stephenโ€™s first day went great today!! I love your optimistic outlook despite all the challenges. I think getting out of your hometown is sooo important, especially in your 20s! It was the greatest decision my husband and I made to tackle a new adventure together & I really think we are stronger because of it. Excited to hear how it all goes, Stephanie!! <3

    1. Thank you so much, Mackenzie! I think it’ll be something he enjoys. We think this is one of the best decisions that we’ve made too! I certainly enjoy seeing all your exciting adventures! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I am so excited for you, Stephanie!!! โ™ก I am so behind on reading posts, too, but I cannot wait to read about all of your new adventures.

Freelancing is definitely a job & if you’re doing well, what’s the need to find something else? Your writing is so beautiful & elegant. I love it.

    1. Thank you so much, Hunida! That’s so sweet of you to say. I completely agree! I’m starting to get in the groove of things so I suppose we’ll see how it goes! ๐Ÿ™‚
